   • Questions, answers, comments, tutorials, polls, votes, and messages.

   • IP address, user-agent, pages viewed, approximate location, timestamps, referral pages.
   • Basic, privacy-friendly analytics (e.g., Plausible or similar) with no cross-site tracking.
4. Communications.
   • Emails you send us and your preferences (e.g., newsletter opt-in).
5. Cookies & local storage.
   • Essential cookies for login/session, security, and preferences.
   • Optional analytics cookies only if required by the analytics tool (we aim to avoid them).

Why we use your data (legal bases)

• Provide the service (contract/legitimate interests): authenticate you, operate AskHub, save drafts, deliver notifications.
• Safety & integrity (legitimate interests): prevent abuse, enforce policies, debug, and secure the service.
• Consent: email updates/marketing (only if you opt in); non-essential cookies (where applicable).

How we share data

• Service providers (hosting, content delivery, analytics, email): only what’s needed to provide their services, under contract.
• Business transfers if we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (we’ll notify you where required).

We do not sell personal data.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above:

• Account/session data: while your account is active; session tokens are short-lived.
• Content: retained as part of the community knowledge base unless you delete it or request removal (subject to exceptions like legal obligations).
• Logs/analytics: typically 30–365 days, then aggregated or deleted.
  Exact periods may vary by system and legal requirements.
